Concrete Leveling
The process of concrete leveling is essentially the same as lifting concrete, raising it back to it’s original position or as close to it as possible. Yet the term can be misleading too: As concrete contractors we do not aim to level your concrete slab in a textbook sense, but most often the aim is to create a slight slope away from your buildings. A professional concrete contractor can create a gradient so unnoticeable it won’t affect use but will stop water from collecting or what’s worse, being led in the wrong direction, toward your house. Even some indoor slabs, like your garage floor, are best drained in this manner.
mudjacking
Mudjacking is a classical form of concrete leveling. Holes are drilled into your concrete slab and a concrete slurry, referred to as ‘mud’ is injected underneath. This raises the concrete slab and your concrete is leveled. The crux is that the material injected must be thin enough to move through a hose yet thick enough to eventually cure into the kind of solid that can hold the weight of your concrete slab.
slabjacking
Slabjacking is another form of concrete leveling. Again, holes are drilled in to the existing concrete, but in this more contemporary approach a polyurethane foam is injected underneath. Experience and the passing of time have proven that the foam dries faster and lasts longer, making slabjacking a more lasting solution.
Polyurethane foam does not decompose, as does the mud slurry used in mudjacking, which means this form of concrete leveling potentially lasts indefinitely - unless the ground moves underneath. The foam is more expensive than mud, and the home owner can weigh the pros and cons.
In many cases the specifics of the property and condition of the concrete to be leveled will steer the decision. With us consultations are free - so give us a call and we will have a look at your specific situation. It’s a no strings situation, we love to talk all matters Concrete!
