the process of concrete lifting
Has your pool deck or patio sunk or even caved in somewhere? Concrete lifting, also known as mudjacking or slabjacking, may be the solution for you. When we do concrete lifting we the raise a slab by stabilizing the foundation underneath it. We use a small drill to make holes in the portion of the slab that has sunk in. When that is done we can attach a pump and fill the void that has opened up beneath the slab with material that is stable and sturdy enough to raise it back to original position.
mudjacking
Mudjacking is a classical form of concrete lifting. Holes are drilled into your concrete slab and a concrete slurry, referred to as ‘mud’ is injected underneath. This raises the concrete slab and your concrete is lifted. The crux is that the material injected must be thin enough to move through a hose yet thick enough to eventually cure into the kind of solid that can hold the weight of your concrete slab.
slabjacking
Slabjacking is another form of concrete lifting. Again, holes are drilled in to the existing concrete, but in this more contemporary approach a polyurethane foam is injected underneath. Experience and the passing of time have proven that the foam dries faster and lasts longer, making slabjacking a more lasting solution.
Polyurethane foam does not decompose, as does the mud slurry used in mudjacking, which means this form of concrete lifting potentially lasts forever - unless the ground moves underneath. But the foam is more expensive than mud, so the home owner will have to weigh the pros and cons.

the pros of concrete lifting
When we have thus raised the slab securely into its original place, we patch and seal the holes and your concrete area will look as good as new! The process is straightforward, and homeowners everywhere depend on it for repairs. Among the pros of concrete lifting are the affordability - nothing needs to be torn out and long hours of labor are spared, and there is also less cost for material, since you do not need as much to fill in the void beneath your sinking structure, as you would to create a new one from scratch. Your yard won't become a construction zone during the process; in fact concrete lifting can be done while preserving your landscape. You can even drive on your raised slab the same day!
That having been said, you do need to address the underlying reason as to why your concrete structure is sinking. There can be an underlying problem, like poor drainage eating away the soil underneath your concrete, in which case the problem will simply return and repeat in a few years time. This is why it is pivotal to have a concrete professional assess the situation. Give us a call, quotes are always free with us!
