driveway repair
When your driveway needs to be repaired it good to look into the options. There are pros and cons to all forms of repair - patching, resurfacing or simply replacing the driveway. Let’s look into those.
patching your driveway
Patching is the process of filling tiny cracks or holes with asphalt or concrete sealant. The idea is to seal them off, to prevent water seeping in under the driveway, which may lead the asphalt to cave into a pothole. The pros are low cost and the possibility of d.i.y. On the cons side is the fact that patching is a short term solution and may be aesthetically less pleasing.
Resurfacing your driveway
When your cracks are wider or they’ve returned after patching has been tried, it’s time to consider the technique of concrete resurfacing. As a rule of thumb resurfacing can give your driveway an added 10 more years. It will cost you more than patching but it is less costly than replacing the driveway all together.
For resurfacing the driveway has to be in overall good condition and generally speaking that means 5-15yrs old. We tend to say that if approximately 25% of the driveway is lightly or moderately damaged resurfacing is a great option. Your driveway will look brand new!

Replacing your driveway
If you’ve got an old driveway with potholes or large cracks (wider than ¼ inch) replacing it is your best bet. Replacing is the most expensive solution, yet it has its pros too. Replacement is a long term solution and since you’re starting from scratch you’ve got modern options for maintenance, like resealing the driveway. A new driveway lasts about 20 yrs with proper maintenance.
THIS IS HOW WE WORK CONCRETE
CONCRETE stainFew materials have the longevity of concrete. In our Atlanta climate concrete is an excellent, tough building material. And staining concrete makes it even tougher! The practice of staining concrete is the process of adding a hue or some sort of color to the surface of a concrete slab or floor. And incidentally, because a stain infuses the concrete grain, it creates a singularly hard and resistant surface which should last a lifetime when maintained properly. Whereas paint or coating can flake or peel away, a stain produces a fade-resistant, permanent color.
In the contemporary world, staining is the most popular method for enhancing concrete floors - both residential and commercial. A trained concrete contractor can give a stained concrete floor or patio slab just about any imaginable look to suit different design tastes and budgets. Concrete staining is extremely versatile. A safe and stylish approach is to keep it subtle, with the addition of only one stain color which complements your decor, but please feel free to ask and we can inform about the use of multiple colors to create that custom look you find yourself coveting. concrete repair & RESURFACINGWe’ve all seen cracked concrete. Sometimes weather conditions have been tough, but likely the concrete pouring and installation has gone wrong in the first place. It is important to assess whether the cracks or physical impacts are fixable. In the case of foundation crack repair, if a bearing structure is cracked, repairing it can be hazardous and likely results in a relapse a few years down the road. Although concrete crack repair is very doable, there comes a time when concrete can no longer be safely repaired and resurfacing done by an experienced conrete contractor is the method of choice.

STAMPED CONCRETEStamped concrete refers to the patterns that can be applied to the surface of poured concrete. The method is as ancient as the Romans but in recent years it has again increased in popularity due to the remarkably natural-looking surfaces that can be achieved now that the stamps are made out of polyurethane. Concrete can thus be made to resemble brick, stone or slate. The remarkably natural look is achieved by the addition of a base color to give the concrete a hue corresponding to the chosen natural material, together with subtle interwoven accent colors that accentuate the surface patterns.
User-friendliness is of course vital, and all of your stamped concrete is installed with the standard resistance finish to ensure slip resistance. When it comes to concrete coatings it's a good idea to review your options before deciding. Contemporary concrete finishing has so much to offer. We are happy to give you a free consultation to answer all your questions.
Concrete resurfacing is the process of refinishing old concrete to look new again. During resurfacing a new concrete coating is applied over the existing one, making it possible to apply all the available coveted contemporary techniques to offer color and texture options. We specialize in both stamped concrete and concrete stain, contemporary resurfacing techniques that have proven immensely popular due to how versatile they are. Resurfacing can be done on concrete driveways, patios, walkways and even on indoor floors when worked by an experienced concrete contractor. Concrete resurfacing is a comparatively hassle-free process which saves you a lot of effort and money. |

Preparation
Before we start pouring concrete there is essential work to be done clearing and cleaning the site. This often requires earth-moving equipment. There may be bushes or trees, grass or old concrete to be gotten rid of so that we can do the pouring on solid, raw earth. This will ensure solidity and lasting quality. As a foundation we lay a granular sub base of the area to prepare for the concrete itself.
Forming and pouring placement
Concrete is soft and flowing and needs to formed with the help of wood or metal stakes, which we place along the edges of the entire area. We use materials which are easy to remove once the concrete has cured. After the forms have been placed to perfection we use our concrete pump to get the concrete mass exactly where it needs to go. At this point it is essential to have an experienced crew at location to move the concrete and smooth it as it is being poured to prevent air pockets. This greatly enhances the resistance of the concrete and ensures its life span.
finishing
The concrete surface is evened by the process of screeding it, i.e. slowly pushing a custom made board across it to compact the concrete. The edges of the concrete are evened out with hand held trowels called floats. At this point the finish of choice is applied. We are proud to offer our customers many contemporary finishes to choose from - including the favorites stamped concrete and concrete stain.
curing
After the finishing the concrete needs to rest and start the curing process. The curing process takes its own sweet time, but being hasty is only going to cause issues with longevity and quality. In general, the entire curing process will take around 28 days - but remember that the first week is critical! That’s when you’ll want to be especially careful to follow our time recommendations before walking or driving on your new concrete surface.
final touches
There is hardly a more durable material than concrete, yet there are a couple of things that will help prolong its life. First, applying a good quality sealer right after the concrete is placed & the occasional cleanse with soap and water! Both of these measures will help against staining or discoloration.
